Dear God,

I am made in your image. You breathed into me breath and brought to life this person, this body, mind, and spirit. You marked me before my beginning with the traits of my ancestors. A genealogy is in me from those long before me. As recorded in scriptures I too am ‘begat’. My spirit is of old and in my mother’s womb you knew me. In me lives the miracle of being human. I have potential; I have limitations. I have no wings and I cannot breathe under water. I cannot fly with eagles or swim through deep oceans with whales. I do not bark; I cannot crow. I can reason, write, ask, ponder, calculate, meditate, moderate, will, create goodwill on earth. I know the language of being human. I know our long story. Dear God, how you do give me honour. I know the spirit of respect. I am made a little lower than angels; so are we all.
